“The tree which moves some to tears of joy is, in the eye of others, only a green thing which stands in their way.”     WILLIAM BLAKE

Bamboolahmoolah is a magical bamboo who tells wonderful stories and leads children into a fascinating world where people are struggling to live in harmony with nature. A little magic, a little fantasy….to show how deeply dependent we are on our trees.

The Girl Who Loved Stories

Alisha wanders into the forest led by an insatiable thirst for a story. She meets a magical bamboo who tells her the tale of Amal, a young village boy, who revives a dying sapling and discovers that a kind deed can bring unexpected rewards.

Where are you going young lady?” came a hoarse, husky voice from a rather large and tough-looking bamboo. It was taller and bigger than all the others and its leaves and branches blocked Alisha’s way.

“I’m trying to find a story Mr Bamboo,” the little girl said politely.”

My name is Bamboolahmoolah,” rasped the bamboo, fluffing itself out till it looked twice its size. “And I tell stories better than anyone else…when I’m in the mood of course.”

The Mighty Mangrove

Bamboolahmoolah is back with another story for Alisha and her cousin Liam. The mangrove forest that has been feeding and protecting young Kai and her village for years, is going to be sold off to property developers. Kai is devastated. What can she do to protect her beloved mangroves?

She slid her hand into her pocket for a sweet. Her fingers came into contact with something cool. She pulled it out. It was the stone the magical frog had given her.

“Tappalai , help me,” she whispered. “Please.”

When The Forest Rained Stories

Pryanka and Leah expected Bamboolahmoolah to tell them an exciting story. Instead, they find themselves on an unexpected adventure in a jungle far from home, to save an magnificent old bodhi tree which is about to be cut down.

Bamboolahmoolah stopped so suddenly that the girls nearly crashed into him. “What is it? What’s wrong?” Pryanka looked at him startled.

“Wrong? Nothing’s wrong. It’s absolutely right. You are brilliant! You’ve given me a great idea.” The bamboo was almost dancing in excitement.
